🎉 😃 🎉 Happy Friday everyone!! 🎉 😃 🎉
Today was a busy end to the week for Hirst Locksmiths with four appointments and one delayed until Monday. The first three appointments were in Lauder and the last in Hawick.
The first two appointments were the exact same problem with the exact same gearbox! Spooky!! However a new set of handles are also required for the second job. This is now all on order and will be fitted next week.
The third job was just outside of Lauder and took a little longer. The first job was to resolve a locking issue with a set of patio doors. This was a fairly quick solution with an adjustment to the keeps on the second sliding door. The next job in the same property was a slightly more tricky issue. A set of French patio doors with one that would not lock and one that was deadlocked. After a full strip down of parts and opening the deadlocked door, the issue was seized shoot bolts at the bottom of both doors. Danny Hirst of Hirst Lockamiths has fitted a temporary solution while the parts are ordered.
Lastly Danny was off to Hawick for an issue on a front door where the door wouldn’t lock. On arrival he checked the locking operation and to the customers surprise, it worked (which wasn’t the case last night). After a quick check of the working parts, Danny was content that everything was working as it should. He has my number saved should the issue return.
Danny was then supposed to go to Melrose for a job, but the customer needed to delay until Monday which is obviously not an issue at all. Since he had some time on my hands, he thought he would get to work on servicing an old lock for a customer in his lock lab. The customer also wants a key making for the lock as he has lost the original one. This is something Danny is more than happy to do and really enjoys doing. 😃
