45 Mile Ultramarathon Completed – Preparing for 100 Miles & Supporting Suicide Prevention
Local Locksmith in Earlston, Scottish Borders – TD4 6ET
After a well-earned rest, Danny Hirst of Hirst Locksmiths is reflecting on a demanding but rewarding weekend — completing a 45-mile ultramarathon as part of his preparation for the upcoming 100-mile run from Bamburgh Castle to Edinburgh Castle this July.
The event wasn’t just about endurance. It was also about raising awareness and funds for a cause close to his heart: Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), a suicide prevention charity.
The Run – Key Statistics
Total distance: 45.63 miles
Elevation gained: 2,100 metres
Calories burned: 6,777
Completion time: 15 hours 12 minutes
The course turned out to be hillier than expected, but the successful finish gave a strong confidence boost ahead of the 100-mile challenge later this year.
Fundraising Update
Danny chose this challenge to support CALM, helping raise awareness of suicide prevention and mental health support.
Current total raised: £735
He would like to thank everyone who donated and shared support — the encouragement has meant a huge amount throughout the training and the event itself.
