Hirst Locksmiths Supporting Suicide Prevention – 45 Mile Ultra Before a 100 Mile Challenge
Earlston, Scottish Borders TD4 6ET
Hirst Locksmiths owner Danny Hirst is taking on a personal challenge to raise awareness and funds for the suicide prevention charity Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM).
After losing seven friends to suicide — and having experienced suicidal thoughts himself — Danny decided he wanted to help others and encourage people to talk openly about mental health.
To do this, he has committed to his biggest physical challenge yet:
a 100-mile ultramarathon in July.
Before that, he will test his training in the Pendle Way in a Day — a 45-mile ultramarathon.
Why This Matters
Suicide affects families, friends, workplaces and communities across the UK, including the Scottish Borders.
By sharing his journey publicly, Danny hopes to:
Encourage conversations around mental health
Reduce stigma
Raise funds for life-saving support
Show people they are not alone
Follow The Run Live
Danny plans to post live updates throughout the ultramarathon so the community can follow the journey and support the cause.
You can follow the run on the Hirst Locksmiths Facebook page.
Business Availability During the Event
Because of the run, Hirst Locksmiths will be unavailable for physical work over the weekend and Monday while recovery takes place.
However, Danny will still be reachable by phone for bookings and advice — you might just speak to him while he’s running.
